About In Your Shoes

In Your Shoes is a recycling collection program which aims to divert reusable shoes from landfills while at the same time distributing them to disadvantaged individuals and communities. The In Your Shoes program assists students to learn about both sustainability issues and social responsibility.

In Your Shoes was first piloted within 13 schools in Melbourne in Term 3 of 2008. It received a fantastic response from the students and the community. The schools were featured in local newspapers and awarded certificates from Kids Off The Kerb. Our team is now working to expand this project, and all schools within the metropolitan Melbourne area are invited to participate.

How you can get involved!

Who are we

We are a team of 6 students from the University of Melbourne. Currently, we are participating in a leadership program called the Student Ambassador Leadership Program (SALP) which encourages students to get involved with the University and engage with the greater community. We have teamed up with Kids Off The Kerb (KOTK), a charity that aims to provide sustainable opportunities and support for disadvantaged and at-risk young people, in order to promote and expand the In Your Shoes program.
